Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Dec 20
The 2019 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is matured in 25% whole bunch. It has an enticing bouquet of mulberry and pressed iris flower, well defined and focused, plus a touch of sea spray in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins and very saline in the mouth, delivering just the right amount of bitter cherry mixed with iodine on the finish. A superb Grands-Echézeaux, but not Thomas Collardot’s best wine in show this year, which is the Clos Saint-Denis.
